Supporting pupil wellbeing has never been more important, but finding the funding to bring ideas to life can be a challenge. That’s why Howden’s Pupils Wellbeing Prize competition is such a valuable opportunity for schools across the UK.
A chance to secure up to £10,000 for your pupils
Now open for entries, the prize offers schools the chance to win up to £10,000 to invest directly in initiatives that improve pupils’ mental health, happiness and overall wellbeing. Whether you’re looking to introduce new support programmes, enhance existing provision, or create inspiring spaces for pupils to thrive, this funding can make a real and immediate difference.
Support for what matters most
Schools can use the prize money in whatever way best supports their pupils, whether that’s creating calm reflection areas, launching peer support networks, investing in sports and outdoor activities, or introducing arts-based wellbeing initiatives.
Real impact: bringing wellbeing to life in schools
The impact is already clear. The Prince of Wales School in Dorchester, one of last year’s winners, received £6,000 to accelerate its commitment to inclusive, pupil-first wellbeing. The prize money helped upgrade hydrotherapy pool equipment, opening up access to more pupils with varying physical needs, while also supporting a student-led Kindness Ambassadors programme to promote positive behaviours and peer support.
Creating spaces for reflection and support
In addition, the school invested in a memory garden, providing a dedicated space for reflection and emotional support across the school community. These initiatives weren’t just ‘nice to have’, they’ve had a lasting impact on pupils, families and staff alike.
Accelerating plans that truly make a difference
The competition enabled the school to accelerate plans already rooted in real pupil needs much faster than would otherwise have been possible.
