Summer is one of the most important times of the year for reading. Just a few minutes of reading each day can help children maintain their confidence, strengthen fluency and return to school ready to learn.
That’s why Daisy Education is inviting schools and pupils across the UK to take part in our Summer Reading Challenge – a free initiative designed to keep children engaged with reading throughout the holidays.
At Daisy Education, we partner with over 1,700 schools across the UK to help pupils become confident, capable readers. Through DreamBox Reading Plus, our adaptive reading development programme, we support pupils in developing the fluency, comprehension, vocabulary and reading stamina needed to succeed.
Whether your pupils use DreamBox Reading Plus in school or simply enjoy reading books at home, everyone is welcome to join in. The challenge is simple: keep reading throughout the summer holidays!
Every page counts, whether it’s a novel, comic, magazine, newspaper or a Reading Plus lesson.
Win fantastic prizes
Pupils who complete one of the Summer Reading Challenge activities will be entered into our prize draw, with five lucky winners each receiving a £50 voucher and a certificate celebrating their achievement.
To enter, pupils simply need to complete one of the following:
✓ The Reading Bingo Challenge
✓ A written book recommendation
✓ A video book review (vlog)
The challenge runs from 20 July until 6 September 2026, giving pupils plenty of time to discover new books, develop positive reading habits and enjoy reading over the holidays.
Why take part?
Regular reading helps pupils continue building important skills, including vocabulary, comprehension and confidence. Encouraging children to read over the summer also supports positive reading habits that extend beyond the classroom.
Most importantly, the challenge helps pupils see reading as something enjoyable – giving them the opportunity to explore new stories, topics and interests.
